GREEK ISLAND SCENE
The owners of this Greek restaurant commissioned me to paint a backdrop for the restaurant's main dining area. They asked for something that really said, "GREECE" to the viewer. The result was this scene of a Greek orthodox church overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. I included dining tables in the courtyard below to suggest an outdoor plaza and the owner's had me paint "Café Santorini" over the arched door below the vines because they thought the scene resembled the kind of thing you might find on the Greek island of Santorini. As it turned out they got twice what they bargained for as the mirrored wall next to the mural caused the painting to virtually double in size.
